Please join us in congratulating Ralph Allwood, Carl Jackson and Julia Moss
Ralph Allwood MBE
Congratulations to MMA member and former MMA President Ralph Allwood on receiving an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to education and music. Ralph Allwood founded and runs the successful Eton choral courses, which have inspired countless young singers and organists and have prepared them for choral and organ scholarship auditions. Ralph was Precentor at Eton College and is now the musical director of Inner Voices, a choir made up of singers from Inner London state schools.
Carl Jackson MVO
MMA member Carl Jackson, Master of Music Scholars at Kingston Grammar School, was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) in the New Year Honours for his work as director of music at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court. The award is in the personal gift of the Sovereign and is given by the Queen to people who have served her or the Monarchy in a personal way. His links to the chapel stretch back some 35 years to his days as organ scholar as a sixth former. He appeared with choristers from the Chapel Royal in the 2010 Queen’s Christmas Broadcast. He said: “It is a great privilege to work at the Chapel Royal, and it is wonderful to know the Queen recognises and appreciates the work I and the choir do to enhance the worship in her chapel at Hampton Court.”
