Conference

Reserve your place now…
The 2010 MMA Conference will take place at Brighton College from 14th – 16th May.
It is always a fantastic opportunity to meet members from all over the UK and find out what is happening in different departments. There will be a wide range of performance, inset and keynote speakers, a Saturday Black Tie event and a chance to meet MMA corporate members.
Sandy Chenery, Director of Music and his staff will welcome members to the South Coast and to the College for what we are confident will be the best programme in recent years. For more details of what has been confirmed so far see the page opposite – but remember there are still sessions to be confirmed. Accommodation is available in the area and we have reserved a number of rooms at the nearest hotels.
However, these are strictly limited to those who book early – so please register your interest with Carol Hawkins as soon as possible. admin@mma-online.org.uk

Founded in 1845 by William Aldwin Soames, who collected a group of likeminded local citizens to join him in the task, Brighton College was the first public school to be founded in Sussex. It has gothic revival buildings by Sir George Gilbert Scott RA and Sir Thomas Graham Jackson RA.
The school occupies a significant niche in the development of English secondary education during the nineteenth century: it helped to promote the use of individual classrooms for teaching small groups; it was an early pioneer in teaching both modern languages and science, and later erected the first purpose-built science laboratory (1871); it invented the school magazine (1852) and set up the first gymnasium (1859).
