The MMA is the National Association of Music Teaching Professionals – the largest and longest established association of music teachers in the UK, supporting all who are connected with a school music department.

In challenging times we must work together and stand together for the future of music education.

The MMA provides a stimulating platform for teachers of music and music professionals, such as those involved in instrumental work, to engage in discussion on new music practice and educational policy.

Our members use the MMA to connect with other colleagues around the country and the world, keeping up-to-date on teaching methods and job opportunities.

The MMA is respected for its publications, including Ensemble magazine, which inspires teachers with exclusive interviews and relevant resources. Our unique Music Directory details music departments and scholarships in the UK, helping to connect parents with suitable schools. Our Yearbook details both members and corporate members encouraging connection and support.

All of these publications are free to our members.

Why join the MMA?

As well as a host of member benefits listed below, we feel one of the main reasons teachers join the MMA is to connect with others working in similar environments around the UK.

Through a series of networking events such as our annual Conference and Inset days as well as our monthly e*bulletins, members share good practice, teaching techniques and experience to inspire young musicians.

Whether you are an experienced music professional or a newly qualified teacher, meeting like-minded musicians always serves to refresh and renew your passion. The MMA provides networking opportunities on many levels for you to connect with people who you would otherwise never meet.

Our annual conference and regular inset days allow you to network and meet socially to discover new ways of working that will enhance your teaching and your interpretation of the curriculum.

In these challenging times we must work together and stand together for the future of music education. The MMA is actively seeking to connect with music teachers, departments and other organisations for the common good. Now is a great time to connect with the largest association of music teachers in the country.
